Always Look for Reason to Bet the Dog

The Fundamental Betting Logic

I’m sure I have covered this in another blog post or on some other page, but it bears repeating because it is fundamental to your handicapping and betting success. Here is the brief explanation…

When you bet on the Underdog you have two ways of winning your bet…

  1. When the underdog loses, but covers the point spread that you bet.
  2. When the underdog wins straight up.

Simple as that.

Now, compare that to the conditions that must happen for you to get paid for your bet on the favorite…

The favorite must win the game outright and must win by some amount of points that exceed the point spread that you bet.

So, two ways to win your bet on the underdog.

Only one way to win your bet on the favorite, with two absolute conditions that must be met.

I do not want to disinform you, dear reader. There may be no good or valid reason to bet the underdog in a particular contest, so the play most certainly can and will be on the favorite. But at least try to find some sound handicapping logic why the underdog would be the side to back. This applies to ALL sports, at ALL times.

Peace Out
