Week 5 Best Bets Recap

We've Had Better Weeks

Sending love and hope out to all those affected by Hurricane Ian.

When last we talked, I was taking a victory lap on my recent results taking money away from those evil oddsmakers and sportsbooks. That did not last long. Week Five I presented seven situational spots teams found themselves in, which suggested the correct side to bet. So, how did we do?

107 UTSA Roadrunners -4.0, easy winner 45-30.

146 Gophers -10.0, Lost 20-10. My thesis was this was the season for Row the Boat AND Purdue stud QB O’Connell was not playing. I checked his status all week and he was listed as day-to-day, then questionable. He played and won the damn game.

147 Texas State Bobcats +22.5 Lost 40-13. Bobcats stink but we knew that. I theorized Dukes would take their foot off the gas. They did not and are very much enjoying playing with house money in the first season as a FBS squad. Well done, fellas. Keep it up!

155 South Alabama Jaguars -6.0 Lost 20-17. Jaguars won the game but did not cover the spread. Ragin Cajuns played with a little more heart than I thought they would. I have looked at the Box Score. Jaguars were the better team all day but did not score enough points to cover.

169 Colorado Buffaloes +17.5 Lost 43-20. As I surmised in the prior post, I would hate myself for this bet. I did hate myself. Colorado fired head coach Dorrell after this debacle. Yet he is not the only problem within that program. They promoted OC Mike Sanford to interim HC. Sanford is a huge part of the problem in Boulder. Buffaloes need to clean house. This lousy team probably finishes 0-12. Fade Away! Hey Buffaloes, Urban Meyer is still available!

192 Arkansas -17.5 Lost 49-26. Say goodbye to your College Football Playoff hopes, Hogs! Note the Prince of Darkness turned to his second string QB Jalen Milroe after Bryce Young injured his shoulder. And they still curb-stomped my beloved Hogs.

205 The Monroes +7.5 Lost 45-28. I’m tired. I’m not even going to look into this.

1 Win 6 Losses, Net -5 units (plus the juice).

After five weeks (six actually) where do we stand? Let’s Recap…

Week 0 +1 Unit

Week 1 +1 Unit

Week 2 +0 Unit

Week 3 +4 Units

Week 4 +8 Units

Week 5 -5 Units

Overall Season To-Date: 14-5 = +9 Units…Not Bad

Peace Out
